Almonte Hits Two Dingers, River Cats Win, 4-2
|
Led by Jon Almonte, the Sacramento River Cats downed the El Paso Chihuahuas, 4-2. Almonte belted 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the River Cats. Mike Newberg recorded the save, his 2nd. The River Cats have stumbled out of the gate, getting only their 4th win in 12 games.
With Sacramento leading 2-1 in the bottom of the third, Almonte hit a fastball from Vinny Murillo for a solo home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the River Cats ahead, 3-1.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Sacramento manager .
