Narrow Win Takes Gwinnett Streak to 7
|
The Gwinnett Stripers took Louisville pitcher Chris Eubanks's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Louisville Slugger Field. The final score had Gwinnett getting past the Bats, 4-3. Eubanks went 8 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 3. Steve Flores came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. His record now stands at 1-1. Juan Escobedo, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 9th save.
Gwinnett used the hitting of Jeff Upchurch to pick up the win. The designated hitter clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Stripers on top, 4-3. For the game, Upchurch had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Winning never gets old," said Stripers manager .
With the win, Gwinnett has a record of 74-62. Louisville falls to 72-64.
