Mud Hens Handle Red Wings, Grab 2-1 Win
|
Frontier Field hosted an old-fashioned pitchers' duel.
Toledo got a first-rate effort from pitcher Ken Hann, who frustrated Rochester hitters en route to a 2-1 Mud Hens triumph at Frontier Field. The winner in relief was David Silva. He is now 2-1. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. Earl Oram was credited with the save for Toledo, his 3rd of the season.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Ben McClellan? The 26-year old center fielder McClellan stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put Toledo up, 2-1. For the game, he was 3 for 4, including 1 double and 2 singles.
"Tough loss," said Rochester manager . "But that's how the cookie crumbles."
The second-place Mud Hens improved to 83-55.
