In a close game at NBT Bank Stadium, the Syracuse Mets edged the Charlotte Knights, 4-3. Syracuse catcher Mario Carranza stood apart with his performance. He was 2-2 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Jesus Cisneros earned the win to go to 2-0. He allowed 3 runs on 4 hits, with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts in 6 innings of work. At 67-66, the Mets claim 4th place in the International League North Division.
Carranza had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 0-1 splitter from Dave Duran, he banged a 3-run home run to right-center, giving the Mets a 4-1 lead. It was the 5th home run of the year for Carranza.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Carranza said.
