The Toledo Mud Hens beat the Indianapolis Indians, 8-4, at Victory Field. The Mud Hens got a fine performance from third baseman Mike Simons, who went 4 for 5 with 4 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The Mud Hens win now puts them at 95-32.

Toledo used a well-timed hit by Mike Rice to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Mud Hens ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

"You can't take yourself too seriously," Rice told the Toledo Today. "But at the end of the day, we do play to win ballgames."
