The Toledo Mud Hens topped the Gwinnett Stripers, 12-3, in International League action at Coolray Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of Toledo pitcher Shawn Thompson. The second-place Mud Hens now sit at 76-51.

The Mud Hens got a big hit from first baseman Chris Gerlach. Facing Gwinnett pitcher Joe Smitty in the top of the sixth, Gerlach pounded a 3-run home run to right. His 6th home run of the season put the Mud Hens ahead, 8-2.

Said Gwinnett manager after the blowout loss: "They did pretty much every facet of the game better than we did and that's why we lost."
