The Toledo Mud Hens got production up and down the lineup while beating the Pawtucket Red Sox, 13-3. One standout was right fielder Randy Newman. Newman, who is tied for 2nd in the IL in doubles with 16, went 3 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. Ron Scott earned the win for Toledo. He lasted 7 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 2. With the win, he raised his record to 3-2. Toledo now owns a record of 67-46.

The Mud Hens got a big hit from pinch hitter Danny Nichols. Facing Pawtucket pitcher Jesus Baltierra in the top of the seventh, Nichols pounded a 3-run home run to left-center. His 3rd home run of the season put the Mud Hens ahead, 13-3.

"Sometimes the runs come in bunches," said Nichols after the game.
