The Syracuse Mets beat the Indianapolis Indians by a score of 8-4. Syracuse first baseman Eddie Foley deserved the lion's share of the credit. Foley was 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Mets. Jim Childs picked up the win with 5.1 innings of work. He allowed 4 runs on 8 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 2. On the season, he is now 3-3. Picking up his 15th save was 24-year old right-handed pitcher Zach Walls.
With Syracuse leading 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth, Foley hit a changeup from Bob Krause for a grand slam home run. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Mets ahead, 7-2.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Foley told the Syracuse Times.
The 5th-place Mets lifted their record to 36-58.
