Herb Hits Two Dingers, Bulls Win, 9-5
|
Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Durham Bulls and Syracuse Mets.
Vince Herb was a major contributor to the 9-5 Durham win over Syracuse. The Bulls first baseman hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. Josh Yehle got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 4 runs on 5 hits in 6.1 innings. Bryan Holloway earned his 16th save in 18 chances.
Durham used the hitting of Andy Bolanos to pick up the win. The catcher clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Bulls on top, 9-4. For the game, Bolanos had 1 home run and 1 single in 6 at-bats.
"I'm trying to see the ball big, see the ball up in the zone and put the barrel on it," Herb told the Durham Citizen.
The Bulls now have a record of 40-42 with the win over Syracuse.
