Indians Top Bisons, 5-3
|
The Indianapolis Indians knocked off the Buffalo Bisons, 5-3, in International League action at Sahlen Field. Indianapolis pitcher and Jackson, Mississippi, native Jerry Breeden had an outstanding performance. Ken Moran, credited with the win in relief, is now 4-1. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. Gabe Ward recorded the save, making him 7 for 8.
In the top of the ninth, Indianapolis got a clutch hit from Josh Wester. The second baseman belted a 2-run home run, putting the Indians up, 5-3. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a decisive one.
Wester attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
