The performance of Mike Shuler proved critical in helping Syracuse beat Scranton WB, 9-8, in 10 innings. The Mets shortstop went 5 for 6 with 5 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Syracuse pitcher Jeff Davis got the win, upping his record to 1-1. Teodus Bohac got the loss. The third-place Mets are now 34-31, the RailRiders 27-38.

The Mets relied on first baseman Steve Butters for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the tenth, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Shuler said.
