Bats Shellac Clippers, 15-3
|
Conditions were not ideal but Louisville and Columbus were able to put their game in the books.
The Louisville Bats met little resistance from the Columbus Clippers, beating them, 15-3, at Louisville Slugger Field. Mike McDowell led the way. He was 2-5 with a home run. He scored 3 runs and drove in 5 for Louisville. The winning pitcher was 27-year old left-handed pitcher Danny Matos. He tossed 91 pitches over 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits. Ron Austin closed it out for his 3rd save.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Bats grabbed the lead when McDowell hit his 4th home run of the season. The 3-run home run off Sean Hamilton made it 5-3, Louisville.
Said Columbus manager after the blowout loss: "They did pretty much every facet of the game better than we did and that's why we lost."
By defeating Columbus, the 4th-place Bats improved to 32-29.
