Red Sox Top Tides, 5-3
|
Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at Harbor Park.
The Pawtucket Red Sox needed 11 innings to beat the Norfolk Tides, 5-3, at Harbor Park. The win was due in part to designated hitter Mike Dylewski, who went 3-5 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The winner in relief was Jim Simms. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 2-1.
The game was all tied up in the top of the 11th, until Dylewski delivered big-time for Pawtucket, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Curt Gamel. The game-changing hit put the Red Sox on top, 4-3.
"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Dylewski told the Pawtucket Times.
Pawtucket occupies 5th place in the International League North Division at 23-34.
