The Rochester Red Wings faced a tough opponent in Pawtucket pitcher Nathan Jenkins, but did just enough to pull out the victory at McCoy Stadium by a final score of 6-3. Jenkins went 5 innings and allowed 1 run. Rochester reliever Erik LaSpada picked up the win to move to 2-0. Jesus Capi suffered the loss. Rochester has now won 4 straight, while the Red Sox have lost 5 in a row.

Rochester used the timely hitting of Harvey Samora to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Red Wings on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

Samora called the triumph "a good team win."
