Stripers Score 4-1 Win Over Columbus
|
The Columbus Clippers got a sterling performance from pitcher Bob Williams, but the Gwinnett Stripers still prevailed, 4-1. Williams came in in relief and pitched to 18 batters. Josh Willoughby got credit for the win, improving to 3-1. He allowed 1 run on 5 hits in 7 innings. Gwinnett is now 23-12, 3½ games up in the International League South Division.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for David Coyoy? The Gwinnett first baseman had a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Stripers on top, 4-1. For the game, Coyoy had 1 double and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
"I like what I saw today," said Gwinnett manager , "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
