The Durham Bulls beat the Toledo Mud Hens, 4-2. Durham pitcher and Walnut Creek, California, native Jon Darr led the way. Amari Barringer picked up the save for Durham, his 1st of the year. The Bulls bumped their record to 18-16 with this latest triumph.

In the bottom of the third, Kevin Howes delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 2nd and 3rd, the Durham designated hitter hit a 2-run single, putting the Bulls in front, 4-2.

In postgame remarks, Howes hailed his team's "grit."
