Red Sox Lose Versus Charlotte, 4-1
|
The Charlotte Knights earned a win at BB&T Stadium, stopping the Pawtucket Red Sox, 4-1. Starting pitcher Jose Salazar played a big role in his team's success. The winner was Salazar. He threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball. The loser was Kellen Goodin. Eddie Kramer picked up the save, his 4th.
Charlotte took advantage of an error in the bottom of the sixth inning. The game was tied, 1-1, when Ricky Quintana hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Knights in front, 2-1.
Afterward, Pawtucket manager said: "We were guessing wrong on pitches, and that's something we've got to get away from."
The win gives Charlotte a record of 7-2.
