McCarty, Emeralds Wallop Yankees in Game 5 of R2
Eugene Emeralds second baseman Eddie McCarty was the difference-maker at PK Park, as he led his club to victory in a pivotal Game 5 of the Round 2. The Emeralds took the 11-1 win over the Staten Island Yankees to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 series.

In the bottom of the fifth, Eugene designated hitter Willie Ruiz had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Ruiz stroked a 2-run single to center. It made the score 2-1, Eugene. For the game, he was 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2.

"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," McCarty told the Eugene Citizen.

Game 6 is scheduled for Thursday at Richmond County Bank Ballpark.
