Marauders Even With Flying Tigers After Extra-Innings Win
|
Handed an opportunity to take a commanding lead in the Round 1, the Lakeland Flying Tigers could not close the deal.
Game 4 went into extra frames and the Bradenton Marauders emerged victorious, taking a 11-inning, 8-6 win. Bradenton center fielder Adan Varela was 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk in the win at Joker Marchant Stadium to drag the Marauders back to parity. The clubs are now tied 2-2 in the best-of-7 series.
Bradenton used a timely hit from Brad Strohbeck to get the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the 11th inning to put the Marauders ahead, 6-5. It was his only hit in 6 at-bats, but it made an impact.
In postgame comments, Varela said, "I think we gave the fans their money's worth."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland.
