Padres Win, Move to Within 1 Game of Round 2
The San Diego (AZL) Padres moved to within one game of the Round 2, downing the visiting Los Angeles A (AZL) Angels at Peoria Sports Complex by a score of 12-5. Padres shortstop John Ridley did some major damage. He was 1-2 with a double and 4 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The win gives the Padres a 3-0 advantage in the best-of-7 Round 1.

A key moment came with one out in the bottom of the second. That's when Ridley hit a cutter from Sal Rubio for a 2-run double, putting San Diego (AZL) up, 5-3.

"We're happy," Ridley told reporters after the win. "When you're in the playoffs, you've got to treat every game like it could be your last."
