Almost There: Boise On Cusp of Round 2 Triumph After 3-1 Win
|
Their bats were silent and Boise had a rookie on the mound. No problem.
On a day when the Hawks struggled to string together much offense, the club got a big boost from 22-year-old starter Mario Ospino. The right-hander quieted the Batavia Muckdogs at Memorial Stadium to help Boise take the 3-1 decision and seize a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Round 2.
Jeff Craft came through for Boise when he hit a 2-run triple in the bottom of the third. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a two-strike fastball to right field, staking his team to a 2-0 lead.
"Tough loss," said Batavia manager . "But we'll rebound from it."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Memorial Stadium in Boise.
