Yankees, Sea Unicorns Play 10 to Settle Game 1, Staten Island Now Leads Series 1-0
|
Norwich Sea Unicorns manager took a gamble on 22-year-old starter Andy Raimondi. It paid off, but, unfortunately for the Sea Unicorns, little else did.
Despite getting a poised performance from the young left-hander, the Sea Unicorns lost, 4-3, to the Staten Island Yankees at Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium. With the win, Staten Island took a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 Round 1.
Staten Island used the timely hitting of Eric Dominguez to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Yankees on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Our guys just had that look of determination," said winning manager .
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium in Norwich.
