Sunrita Excels in 10-5 Salem-Keizer Win
|
The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes topped the Tri-City Dust Devils, 10-5, with youngster Deo Sunrita playing a key role. Sunrita was 4-5 with a triple, 3 singles, and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Volcanoes in the win. The Volcanoes sit in third place in the Northwest League South Division with a record of 34-23.
Johnny Cordeiro had a big 2-run double for the Volcanoes in the top of the fifth inning. With Salem-Keizer leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a sinker from 19-year old right-handed pitcher Juan Narvaez and swatted a double to left. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Volcanoes ahead, 3-0.
"They played a better game than we did," said Tri-City skipper .
