The Spokane Indians claimed a close win over the Eugene Emeralds, due in large part to Jayvon Heyward. The Spokane left-hander pitched a great game to secure the 1-0 win. Bob Marroquin was called on to finish, recording his 5th save. Spokane bumps their record to 8-11 with the win.

The Emeralds had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Indians going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 19-year old second baseman Oscar Rodriguez came to the plate. Rodriguez hit a solo home run on a first pitch fastball from Eugene hurler Marius Crivelli. It was Rodriguez's 1st home run of the year.

"We squandered some opportunities," said Eugene manager .
