Black Bears Use Late Surge to Win
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the West Virginia Black Bears and Albany White Sox.
The Albany White Sox got a superb performance from pitcher Dusty Dinkins, but the West Virginia Black Bears still won the game, 4-2. Dinkins threw 6.0 innings of 2-hit ball. The win was credited to 21-year old right-handed pitcher Tristan Wright in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Ricky Saucedo took the loss. Josh Mills wrapped it up, recording his 1st save.
Edwin Gonzalez found himself in a pressure situation in the top of the ninth. Facing Albany hurler Isaiah Larkins, the 20-year-old catcher hit a sacrifice fly. His 15th RBI of the season put the Black Bears on top, 3-2.
"You need to show up when your number's called," said Gonzalez.
At 38-32, the Black Bears claim 4th place in the New York-Penn League South Division.
