Cyclones Score Late to Nip White Sox, 5-4
|
Brooklyn second baseman Tzvi Caspit picked up 4 ribbies while helping his team beat back the Albany White Sox, 5-4. Brooklyn reliever Jared Yarbrough picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Jose Tirado absorbed the loss. Earning his 1st save of the year was Jon Carlson.
Julian Pirktl drove in one run for Brooklyn. With no one out and the game tied in the top of the eighth inning, Pirktl had a clutch at-bat. Facing Albany hurler Jose Tirado, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Cyclones a 5-4 lead.
"Not to put too fine a point on it," said Pirktl, "but we really needed that win."
Brooklyn has a record of 42-25, placing them second in the New York-Penn League South Division.
