Starting pitcher Juan Salazar was a major factor in the 4-2 Staten Island Yankees triumph over the Auburn Doubledays. Staten Island reliever Jesus Diaz picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Edwin Ibarra was saddled with the loss. Nate Letson collected save number 4.

R.J. Costello had a direct impact on the outcome. Costello contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put Staten Island up, 3-2.

"We're not going to feel sorry for ourselves," said Auburn skipper . "Wouldn't do any good."

With the victory, the Yankees upped their record to 49-17.
