The inspired effort of Winston-Salem center fielder Pete McMillen was not enough to prevent a loss, 10-4, to the Down East Wood Ducks. McMillen hit 2 home runs. Tim Porter closed it out for Down East, earning his 2nd save. The Wood Ducks saw their win-loss record go to 59-81. At the same time, the Dash fell to 90-50.

Down East used the bat of Nate Hamblin to get the win. The center fielder hit a sinker from Mike Webb out of the park for a 2-run home run. The blast came in the top of the fifth inning and put the Wood Ducks on top, 4-1. It was Hamblin's lone hit, but it left a mark.

"Good win for us," said Hamblin. "We'll strap it on and go after the next one."
