Red Sox Snatch Late-Game, 1-0 Win
|
Salem got a first-rate effort from pitcher Jayden Taybron, who frustrated Lynchburg hitters en route to a 1-0 Red Sox triumph at Haley Toyota Field at Salem Memorial Ballpark. By defeating Lynchburg, the second-place Red Sox improved to 83-51.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder George Ridell came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Lynchburg pitcher Victor Raya, he hit a 1-0 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Salem on top, 1-0.
"Our pitching was the difference tonight," Ridell said.
