Extra-Inning Walk-Off Win for Wood Ducks
|
Grainger Stadium played host to some high drama.
Thanks in large part to right fielder Juan Villa, the Down East Wood Ducks clipped the Frederick Keys, 8-7, in 11 innings. Villa was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. The Down East win streak is now 4 games.
The Wood Ducks got a clutch hit from center fielder Nate Hamblin. In the bottom of the 11th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Wood Ducks.
Villa described the clubhouse as "kind of rowdy" after the game.
