Higginbotham Stars as 66ers Top Red Sox, 7-4
|
The Inland Empire 66ers used the hitting of catcher Mike Higginbotham to subdue the Salem Red Sox, 7-4. For the game, Higginbotham was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Inland Empire reliever Leo Lemas picked up the win, raising his record to 3-1. Alex Ibarra was tagged with the loss. Eric Makowski got the save, the 13th for him this season.
Higginbotham had a game-changing double in the bottom of the sixth. On a 2-2 changeup from Alex Ibarra, he banged a 2-run double to center, giving the 66ers a 6-4 lead. It was the 11th double of the year for Higginbotham.
