Pelicans Get Clutch Win Versus Modesto
|
The Myrtle Beach Pelicans and Modesto Nuts played an entertaining game for John Thurman Field patrons.
The Myrtle Beach Pelicans took Modesto pitcher Chris Romero's best shot and still were able to claim a win at John Thurman Field. The final score had Myrtle Beach getting past the Nuts, 4-3. Romero went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 3. Earning the save was Martim Galveias. He's now cashed in 21 of 25 save opportunities.
Clarros Torrinha had a direct impact on the outcome. Torrinha contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to put Myrtle Beach up, 4-3.
"We'll just keep our nose to the grindstone," Torrinha told the Myrtle Beach Chronicle.
Myrtle Beach, at 63-48, holds down 4th place in the CAR/CAL Carolina League.
