Nuts Hand Down East 5-1 Loss
|
Modesto pitcher Bernie Donahue did his part in helping his team defeat the Down East Wood Ducks, 5-1. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. Modesto reliever Bernie Donahue was credited with the win. His record goes to 5-3. Bill Sandhoff took the loss for Down East. Modesto is now 65-42, while Down East is 33-74.
In the bottom of the sixth, Modesto first baseman Dave Chumley had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Chumley stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 3-1, Modesto. For the game, he went 1-4 with a hit by pitch.
"The other side took advantage in some key situations," said Down East manager .
