Nationals Knock Off Quakes, 11-3
|
At New Fredericksburg Ballpark, the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes and Fredericksburg Nationals were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The Fredericksburg Nationals routed the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, 11-3, at New Fredericksburg Ballpark. Danny Kelly was one of the hitting stars. He went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk. He scored 3 times for Fredericksburg. At 58-43, the Nationals find themselves in second place in the CAR/CAL Carolina League.
Chris Haga was 2-5 with 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for Fredericksburg. The 24-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a 2-run single off Eric Gaudio. It was his 109th hit of the season.
"I told our guys, 'Runs don't score by themselves,'" said Haga. "You need someone to get on base and someone to drive them in."
