Salem Breezes to 12-0 Win
|
The Salem Red Sox and starting pitcher Jonathan Diaz stifled the Carolina offense en route to a comfortable 12-0 win at Five County Stadium. The winning pitcher was Diaz, now 12-0. He tossed 5.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 7. Salem is 4th in the CAR/CAL Carolina League with a record of 52-41.
Early in the game, first baseman Ian Baird had a solo home run for Salem. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Red Sox on top, 1-0.
"When Jonathan is on, he can really move the ball around," said Salem manager .
