Roel Excels in 4-3 Stockton Win
|
Ports right fielder Jeff Roel put his stamp on his team's 4-3 win over the Lancaster JetHawks. Roel went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for Stockton in the contest. Roger Ortega earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. He upped his record to 4-0. The Ports improved their record to 50-38 by beating Lancaster.
Doug McKeon's at-bat in the bottom of the sixth was significant, coming with runners on 1st and 2nd and the game tied, 3-3. The Stockton catcher hit a run-scoring single off Bob Topete to put the Ports up.
"We'll sip on a cold one and savor this win," said Roel.
