Lake Elsinore Nets 5-4 Win Versus Rawhide
|
The Lake Elsinore Storm beat the Visalia Rawhide, 5-4, at Recreation Park. The win was due in part to right fielder Danny French, who was 4 for 4 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk. Lake Elsinore reliever Kevin LePera picked up the win to move to 2-1. Jody Weedman suffered the loss. The third-place Storm are now 22-17, the Rawhide 21-18.
The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Mike Handley came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Visalia pitcher Jody Weedman, he hit a 1-0 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Lake Elsinore on top, 5-4.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Lake Elsinore manager .
