Hopkins Helps Wood Ducks Defeat Pelicans, 12-6
Down East took on Myrtle Beach in front of a lively crowd.

Down East left fielder Fritz Hopkins made his presence felt in the 12-6 Wood Ducks triumph over the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. Hopkins was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Tony Arenas got the win, improving to 1-6. He held the Pelicans to 6 runs on 5 hits over 5.2 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 1.

Jim Donovan hit a bases-clearing triple off Joel Bullock in the bottom of the first, which put the Wood Ducks in front, 3-0. Donovan had 1 single, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 2 for 4.
