Big Day for Walker as Quakes Down Nationals, 13-5
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Fredericksburg Nationals and Rancho Cucamonga Quakes get after it.
The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes stormed past the Fredericksburg Nationals, 13-5, at LoanMart Field. Rancho Cucamonga designated hitterJon Walker led the hit parade. He went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Jerrod Wolff came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. His record now stands at 1-0.
In the bottom of the second, Rancho Cucamonga left fielder Zach Riley had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, Riley stroked a run-scoring single to right. It made the score 2-0, Rancho Cucamonga. For the game, he was 1 for 4 with a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Riley told the Rancho Cucamonga Gazette. "You win just by scoring more runs."
Fredericksburg is now 8-10.
