Big Day for Rose as 66ers Down Quakes, 8-0
|
The Inland Empire 66ers welcomed the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes to an afternoon game at San Manuel Stadium.
Behind the bravura of second baseman Zane Rose, the Inland Empire 66ers topped the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes by the score of 8-0. Rose was 2 for 3 with a home run, while adding 6 RBI and scoring once for the 66ers. Yonekichi Naito, the winning pitcher, improved to 4-0. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 3 hits and no runs, while striking out 4 and walking 2.
With Inland Empire leading 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Rose came up to bat against Rancho Cucamonga pitcher Joy-shan Tseng. Rose hit a fastball to right for a grand slam home run. His 2nd home run of the season put the 66ers on top, 5-0.
"Things went our way," said Rose.
