ValleyCats Need Extra Innings to Top Spinners, 12-11
|
The Tri-City ValleyCats did just enough to secure a victory over the Lowell Spinners, 12-11, in 10 innings at Edward A. LeLacheur Park. Nobody did more than first baseman Cesar Villegas. The first-place ValleyCats bumped their record to 37-24.
Tri-City used the hitting of Bobby Pereida to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the ValleyCats on top, 12-11. For the game, Pereida had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
Lowell manager said he was disappointed with the loss. "Whenever you score in double digits, you expect to win the game."
