ValleyCats Top Black Bears to Even Record
|
Behind the bravura of right fielder Omar Diaz, the Tri-City ValleyCats topped the West Virginia Black Bears by the score of 8-4. Diaz went 1 for 2 with a home run and 3 walks. He scored 3 runs for the ValleyCats. Kevin Kelly, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 15th save. The 5th-place ValleyCats have a record of 30-30.
The ValleyCats got a big boost from second baseman Cesar Villegas who had a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the first inning off Black Bears hurler Victor Lopez. It was his 22nd walk of the season and put Tri-City on top, 2-1.
"We did more than enough to get the win," said Diaz.
