ValleyCats Suffer 6-1 Home Defeat
|
Though he had a terrific game, Dario Diaz could not prevent his team, the Tri-City ValleyCats, from absorbing a loss. West Virginia won the game, 6-1. Diaz went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. Marc Zimmer closed the door for West Virginia, picking up his 1st save of the year. The Black Bears, at 36-22, sit in second place in the New York-Penn League South Division.
Dan Martin broke a 0-0 tie in the top of the second with a run-scoring ground out. It put the Black Bears in front, 1-0. For the game, Martin drove in one run.
West Virginia manager commended his team for exhibiting "no shortage of effort."
