Doubledays Snatch Late-Game, 2-1 Win
The Auburn Doubledays in 10 innings beat the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, 2-1, at Falcon Park. Starting pitcher Marcerio Simpson was a major factor, holding his opponents in check all game. Auburn goes to 40-17. The win puts them 5 games up in their division.

Batting in the bottom of the tenth, 22-year old third baseman Sean Plourde had a real shot to win the game. Mahoning Valley pitcher Jake Gomez was determined not to let it happen. But with no outs, Plourde hit a run-scoring single. The Doubledays had a walk-off triumph.

"We didn't go down without a fight," said Mahoning Valley manager .
