Riding the 2-hit performance of the 22-year old shortstop Eric Ingram, the Auburn Doubledays defeated the Reading Braves, 4-1. Auburn pitcher Bobby Castro got the win. He's now 1-0. Eric Holland was tagged with the loss. The Doubledays improved to 29-29.

The outcome hung in the balance with no one down in the top of the eighth. With the bases empty and Reading trailing 2-1, Tony Nava flied out. It was a big out for Auburn pitcher Chris Patterson.
