Walk-Off Seals 38th Victory for Yankees
|
The Staten Island Yankees and Batavia Muckdogs obliged fans hoping for an exciting game.
Despite a great performance by Batavia left fielder Eric Loos, the Staten Island Yankees defeated the Muckdogs by the score of 5-4 in 10 innings at Richmond County Bank Ballpark. Loos was 4 for 4 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The win lifted the Staten Island record to 38-19.
Batting in the bottom of the tenth, 22-year old center fielder Eric Gomez had a real shot to win the game. Batavia pitcher T.J. Stailey was determined not to let it happen. But with no outs, Gomez hit a run-scoring single. The Yankees had a walk-off triumph.
"It's a satisfying feeling, to win like we did," said Gomez.
