Braves Defeat Black Bears, 6-3
The Reading Braves defeated the West Virginia Black Bears, 6-3, in 11 innings. Much of the credit belonged to right fielder Adam Paterson, who hit 2 home runs for the Braves. Jose de Leon, now 1-2, was credited with the win in 2 innings of relief. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit, while striking out 1 and walking 1. The second-place Black Bears dropped to 36-18.

The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Danny Noguera came to bat in the top of the 11th. Facing West Virginia pitcher Steve Martinelli, he hit a 2-1 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Reading on top, 3-2.

"This ballgame left me feeling kind of raw," said West Virginia manager .
