The West Virginia Black Bears beat the Lowell Spinners, 3-2, at Monongalia County Ballpark. The win was due in part to second baseman Phil Huffman, who was 2-2 with 2 singles and 2 walks. West Virginia is now 32-22, while Lowell is 25-29.
With the game tied, 2-2, in the bottom of the sixth, Huffman had a key at-bat for West Virginia. With the bases loaded, Huffman hit a run-scoring single off Frank Davila, making the score 3-2, Black Bears.
"Every loss stings," said Lowell manager . "This one is no exception."
