Tri-City got a first-rate effort from pitcher Bobby Hutchins, who frustrated Reading hitters en route to a 2-1 ValleyCats triumph at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. Chris Peterson was the winner in relief. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Jose de Leon. The ValleyCats saw their record improve to 34-15.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Tri-City shortstop Dan Helmly, facing Jose de Leon, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the ValleyCats the 2-1 win.

"I'm just trying to make sure I'm focused for each and every pitch," said Hutchins.
