Ironbirds Lose Late, 4-2
|
The Aberdeen Ironbirds could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Mike Robinson into a win. Instead, the Brooklyn Cyclones prevailed, 4-2. Robinson threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. Jared Yarbrough, 1-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. By defeating Aberdeen, the second-place Cyclones improved to 27-17.
Sergio Magana had a direct impact on the outcome. Magana contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put Brooklyn up, 4-2.
Magana told a Brooklyn Times reporter that the win made him feel "exuberant."
