Muckdogs Saddle Black Bears with 9-1 Loss
|
The Batavia Muckdogs defeated the West Virginia Black Bears, 9-1, at Dwyer Stadium. Batavia was led by 21-year old right fielder Josh Westbrook, who was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Lewis Reinke earned the win to go to 2-1. He allowed 1 run on 5 hits, with 3 walks and no strikeouts in 6 innings of work. The win puts the Muckdogs at 27-17, while the Black Bears drop to 25-19.
Early in the game, Westbrook had a grand slam home run for Batavia. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Muckdogs on top, 4-0.
"I'm trying to see the ball big, see the ball up in the zone and put the barrel on it," Westbrook told the Batavia Times.
